MIRA MÓDLY was raised by Hungarian expatriates in the idiosyncratic, post industrial splendor of 1970‘s midwest America. She trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she discovered a passion for paint and an unrelenting mission to deconstruct the world around her. She received her degree in 1991 and has exhibited her work internationally for two decades in Chicago, Tunisia, Istanbul, and Greece.
An accomplished art educator, Mira has held teaching positions at varied institutions around the world including the Latin School of Chicago, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Cooperative School of Tunis, Korea International School in Seoul, Istanbul International Community School, and the International School of Stuttgart. She has taught IB Diploma Visual Art for the past 18 years.
Over the years, Mira has participated in several artist residencies including the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Skopelos, Greece. In 2019, she was invited to join the Baer Art Foundation’s International Artist Residency on the north coast of Iceland. In the summer of 2020, she will join the Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain.
